How to Overclock Palm Pre to 1Ghz!

by on Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Palm Pre has been now officially (and brutally) overclocked to a whopping clock speed of 1Ghz.  This hack allows you to use your Pre as fast as the new Android smartphones out there or maybe even faster.

To install, simply install both UberKernel and Govnah after installing Preware.

I am going to try it now and will post a video of my Pre running on 1Ghz too so, watch out for that.

Accompanying the new UberKernel is a revised Govnah (v 0.6.7) to manage the overclocking madness. As usual, there’s plenty of options available to the end user, though our favorite remains screenstate overclocking; the phone ramps up to your maximum when the screen is on, and when off – when you’re not using it – the processor is scaled back down to a more reasonable and battery-saving speed.

I made this some days ago and the difference to the palms default max 600MHz is incredible.

It works as a charm! I set min 1GHz and max 1GHz so it allways runs that fast.

The apps open faster, work better, and everything is faster!

Dunno why it was not default…
