How to Make Your Palm Pre’s Battery Last Longer!
(Download This YouTube Video using FREE FLVDirect software)
Here’s a really simply way to make your Palm Pre’s battery last longer by simply turning your LCD brightness down to the lowest setting, which is still too bright for me.
Before doing this, I got about a day of normal use out of my Palm Pre. Afterwards, I am now getting at least 3 days of normal use without recharging.
I think Sprint messed up by launching the new Palm Pre’s with too-bright LCD settings. This is probably why people are getting the wrong idea Pre’s battery is short when it’s actually the LCD setting.
I did even compare my Palm Pre’s lowest LCD brightness setting with an iPhone 3GS and it’s actually still brighter than 3GS’s normal LCD brightness setting.
There goes the mystery why the battery didn’t last long.
Here’s how to adjust your LCD brightness.
1. Launch your Launcher and go to LCD and Lock:
2) Then set the brightness all the way down like this:
3) Enjoy 3-4 times more battery life.
Sometimes, solutions can be so simple they are right in front of your nose.
Also, you can save additional power by always keeping your wifi and bluetooth turned off if you are not using them.
If you use the Palm Pre e-mail, try to set the e-mail settings to only check every hour.
For those of you who need even longer life, you can try this Seidio aftermarket battery, which supposedly lasts 20% longer.

I thought having wifi turned on used less power than the sprint data network. Otherwise, good ideas

Since the data is always on anyways, it'd save more if you turn off the wifi. Of course, if you turn off the data/voice and turn on WiFi only, you might save power but I don't think you will be able to receive call then.

Brilliant! Now why didn't I think of that? I've only had it three months or more now!

That's what I thought, WHY did Palm leave default setting so HIGH? Maybe they were high.

Hate to break it to you but this “fix” does NOT give you 3-4 days. Either you have a super battery, hardly use your Pre at all, or have an anorexic Pre (doesn't wanna eat the battery? … anorexic? Get it? … never mind.)
Joking aside folks, I definitely recommend lowering the brightness down to minimum, but don't expect miracles with this alone. There IS a tweak where you can reduce the minimum brightness even more using WebOS Quick Installer via precentral.net … I recommend that tweak, among others!

Proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery requires keeping the electrons in it moving occasionally. Go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

data usage can be turned off (with wifi off) and you’ll still be able to rx/tx voice and sms, and really save your battery. As long as your not using the web or waiting for that important email you can get Killer battery life out of this thing
