How to Fix WiFi/USB Tethering on WebOS 1.4!

by admin on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

For those of you who’ve had MyTether’s Wifi tethering for awhile now, you probably noticed that your Palm Pre or Palm Pre Plus has been upgraded to WebOS 1.4.

Well, I have heard that some people are having trouble using their MyTether application and I did too.

Simply, download the latest install file (you have to be a donor) and install it.  I’ve confirmed both WiFi and USB works flawlessly after upgrading to MyTether version 2.1.0+.

*Note: There’s also a Mac install file now too for Mac users!  (And Ubuntu/Linux too!)

Don’t forget to put your MyTether in development mode first before installing!

If you have old versions of MyTether, the exe file will simply write over that so no need to uninstall anything!

Btw, I got a Nexus One when it came out, I just got USB and WiFi tethering working on that too, see my new Nexus One Hacks blog at NexusOneHacks.net for that if you have a Nexus One.

After upgrading to WebOS 1.41 I’ve only been able to use USB Tethering. WiFi will not work.
Are you aware of any PreWare Patches that could impact wifi?

I was able to get wifi to work on web os 1.4 and my tether 2.1.0.
On My laptop, I had to change the mode from ad-hoc to infrastructure and user WPA2 (AES-CCMP) Security.
    I hope this helps.

Well, I guess I will count this as a loss as there is nothing I can do but be pissed at myself for trusting someone that I dont know. What a waste of money and of course its a donation so there is nothing I can legally do that I know of (still researching though). I do not recommend that anyone send this guy their money as I did not receive access to anything. I sent PM’s and emails with no response and I can see he has been on here as his last activity was on the 17th and he has yet to provide the software or any instructions on how to get the software despite my many attempts to contact him. If you do take the chance I wish you the best of luck.

I’m not trusting the MyTether guy. I’ve searched the internet for someone who might of been able to get the installer and put it on a website, but I have no luck. Anyone know someone who could put the installer online? Help appreciated.

Yes i can help….unable to find device…hmmm maybe your phone isnt plugged in? Plug your USB cable into your phone THEN type that command and it should find your phone and install the app.

***and for the ppl that cannot see the app. It happened to me too. i went back into the command prompt and i hit the up arrow key and did the install again. It says something like you have it already but as soon as i did that it popped right up on the 1st page of my apps. Give that a try :)
